Ten Steps to a More fulfilling job

1. Know what you want to do : go for the most likes & fewest dislikes.
2. Do you have the right skills? : Think about those which you might have to acquire. Seek other people's views of your strengths & weaknesses.
3. Plan what steps to take : Think of the barriers & how to overcome them.
4. Often your career goals will depend on others : Learn how to influence them. People give opportunities to those they like the best.
5. Boost your skills. Work with other teams : If you have been in the same role for 2 or 3 years get a transfer to another department or a secondment. If not, get involved in a project outside your department.
6. Accept change : Accepting change & helping others through it will make your career take off. Experience of change will make your CV shine.
7. Be innovative : Think of at least two ways to solve any problem.
8. Network : Meet lots of people interested in mutual gain.
9. Know how headhunters work : Raise your profile to attract their attention.
10. Don't let the thrill of a job offer go to your head : A few days' reflection can save years of grief in the wrong job.
